Kandy
After breakfast, you will go on a city tour and experience the highlights of Kandy on a privately guided tour. The mountain fortress of Kandy lies amidst a landscape of tea hills, forests and rice fields. It is surrounded by the Mahaweli Ganga, the longest river in Sri Lanka. As the fourth largest city in the island state, Kandy is also the spiritual centre of the country. The legendary tooth relic of Buddha is kept here. The Dalada Maligawa temple was built in the 18th century and the canine tooth is honoured at regular ceremonies. Every year in August, Kandy hosts the country's most important religious festival with many visitors and more than 100 elephants.
